A deep fried meme exaggerates the visual damage associated with repeated reposting. Colors become unnaturally strong, edges become brittle, smooth areas turn noisy, and compression removes ordinary photographic detail. The result should feel excessive, but the joke still needs a visible subject and readable caption.

The ingredients of a deep fried meme

The preset uses:

These controls interact. Sharpening makes compression edges more obvious. Noise produces chaotic color changes. Saturation pushes those changes further. A single effect at maximum rarely looks as convincing as a coordinated group of moderate effects.

If the caption becomes hard to read, reduce Deep Fried strength before increasing outline width dramatically. Too much outline can make small letters merge together.

Deep Fried is not just high saturation

A highly saturated clean image can look like an ordinary filter. The reposted meme character comes from the conflict between lost detail and aggressive edge/color treatment. Smaller dimensions and lossy encoding provide that lost-detail layer.

Noise should remain intentional. It may increase the final file size because an encoder has more random detail to represent. The goal is appearance, not guaranteed compression.
