Cursed Mic applies mono, 8-bit output, strong distortion, a lower sample rate, and low-pass filtering. The custom sample rate is a processing target. V1 exports uncompressed PCM WAV rather than presenting a fictional compressed bitrate control.

After processing finishes, listen to Original and Worse, then check the actual PCM WAV sample rate in the result details before downloading. Browser rendering may normalize a sample-rate target it cannot use exactly.

How do I make audio sound low quality?
Choose an audio file, apply Cursed Mic, or lower the processing sample rate. V1 exports uncompressed PCM WAV, so the result reports sample rate, channel count, and bit depth instead of a compressed bitrate.
What does the Cursed Mic preset do?
Cursed Mic combines mono output, 8-bit sample detail, strong distortion, a lower sample rate, and low-pass filtering to imitate an overloaded cheap microphone or badly compressed voice chat.
Why can the actual sample rate differ from my setting?
The requested sample rate is a processing target. Browser audio rendering can normalize unsupported values, so the completed result reports the actual PCM WAV sample rate used.
Why does v1 download a WAV file?
PCM WAV is the browser-safe fallback and does not require a compressed audio encoder. It is widely playable but can be larger than MP3, AAC, or Opus at the same duration.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. Audio processing and export happen locally in your browser. Anonymous coarse analytics do not include the recording, filename, transcript, waveform, or audio bytes.
