Presets first, controls when you need them
Start with Deep Fried, 144p, VHS, or CCTV, then choose JPEG, WebP, or PNG and tune resolution, pixelation, noise, scanlines, and chromatic shift. Smaller dimensions create the most predictable quality loss. JPEG and WebP can add lossy compression; PNG relies on dimensions and effects rather than a lossy quality setting.

How do I make an image lower quality?
Choose an image, select a preset such as Deep Fried, or reduce its resolution and quality manually. You can also tune pixelation, noise, scanlines, and chromatic shift. After processing finishes, compare Original and Worse, then download the degraded copy.
Does LowQualityMaker upload my image?
No. The image is decoded and processed inside your browser. Anonymous coarse analytics can record the media category, preset, and success or failure, but never the image, filename, or image bytes.
What does the Deep Fried preset do?
Deep Fried pushes saturation, contrast, brightness, noise, sharpening, and JPEG compression to create an aggressively reposted look.
Can I choose an exact image resolution?
You can set a target width or height. The image keeps its aspect ratio inside those bounds, and the completed result shows the actual output dimensions.
Can I export JPEG, WebP, or PNG?
Yes. JPEG and WebP can use lossy quality settings. PNG itself is lossless, so make a PNG look worse by reducing its dimensions or adding visual effects instead of relying on a quality slider.
What happens to transparency when I export JPEG?
JPEG cannot store transparency. Transparent areas are flattened when you choose JPEG, so use WebP or PNG when the alpha channel needs to remain transparent.
